SAW PALMETTO TABLETS

Saw Palmetto is a herbal product used in the treatment of symptoms related to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).  The compound is found in the fruit of the American dwarf palm tree and has been used by Native Americans for hundreds of years.  Studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of Saw Palmetto in reducing symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia. Saw Palmetto appears to have the efficacy similar to that of medications like Finasteride, but it is better tolerated and less expensive.  There are no known drug interactions with Saw Palmetto and reported side effects are minor and rare.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is nearly universal as a result of the ageing process in men.  As the prostate gland enlarges, it can cause both obstruction and irritative urinary symptoms.  The size of the gland is not predictive of the symptoms that patients experience.  Saw Palmetto is widely used in other countries, for example it is used in 50% of treatments for BPH in Italy and 90% of such treatments in Germany (Di Silveiro F Et el).
